Warrior – Trailer

On paper, Warrior sounds shaky.  The youngest son (Tom Hardy) of an alcoholic former boxer (Nick Nolte) returns home, where he’s trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament – a path that puts the fighter on a collision course with his older brother (Joel Edgerton). The trailer doesn’t help – it makes the film look like your average paint-by-numbers story of an underdog who does good. However, this movie is notable for two reasons: Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton. Hardy (Bronson, Inception) is a chameleon who can play brutality and vulnerability with equal measure. This is Edgerton’s first big outing since making his mark in the brilliant Australian crime drama Animal Kingdom. While it looks a little weak, this film should pack (yeah, I’m going there) a strong punch. Scope the trailer below:
