When discussing the coolness of modern photographers and creatives, Ryan McGinley is one ice cold Fonzarelli motherfucker. His photographs have been exhibited internationally (he was the youngest artist to have a solo show at the Whitney Museum back in 2002) and his magazine credits include Vice, Dazed and Confused, Index, V, The Fader, I-D, Dutch, Butt and The New York Times Magazine. His influence on modern photography is irrefutable. McGinley’s latest project is Entrance Romance, a short film shot on a Phantom camera (an HD camera capable of capturing video at over 1000 frames per second). It features Carolyn Murphy (the face of Estée Lauder since 2002) in extreme slo-mo as she turns a can of WD-40 into a flame thrower, kisses a dog and has a bowl of goldfish smash over her head. The vibe is meditative as the slow visuals combine with a soundtrack of chants. This is McGinley’s second short film offering for 2010 – earlier this year he collaborated with Pringle of Scotland for a moody video showcasing their Spring/Summer collection. Watch Entrance Romance bleow and enjoy!
