Huge finger snaps to Canberra-based artist, Jessica Herrington. The 23-year-old artist who last year took out the National Youth Self Portrait Prize for her portrait ‘Awkward Self ‘ (above) is exhibiting some of her work in a show titled ‘The’ in Brisbane. The show opens tonight and will continue through to the 21st. It’s being held at the Ryan Renshaw Gallery, 137 Warry Street, Fortitude Valley. Herrington’s work is diverse and spans drawing, photography, polaroids, prints, video, painting, sculptures and pop up books. As Herrington has said, “I have a short attention span and I work best when I can jump from project to project and bring out ideas in different forms”. If you’re in BrisVegas – go and scope out those “different forms” at the Ryan Renshaw Gallery.
