Kotama Bouabane

“Language is a cracked kettle on which we beat out tunes for bears to dance to, while all the time we long to move the stars to pity.” – Gustave Flaubert.

Looking at Melting Words, the latest work from Toronto-based artist Kotama Bouabane, reminded me of that Flaubert quote. Brutally short sentences written in ice are the last remnants of a relationship that’s presumably already melted away.
